SEPTEMBER 24, 2008 | During the month of November, the Church remembers in a particular way all those who have died, as she celebrates the Feasts of All Saints and that of All Souls.
The Feast of All Saints is a special day celebrated each year on Nov. 1, in which we honor all the Saints in heaven, both those known and unknown. As pilgrims in this world, we are connected in the Communion of Saints, to those who enjoy the contemplation of God in Heaven. Therefore, we can ask the saints for their intercession to God on our behalf. Pope Benedict XVI has recently reminded us that the Saints, “sustain us in the daily struggle, so that we too, one day, can attain and share with them and all the Saints the joy of the eternal banquet in the heavenly Jerusalem.”
APRIL 4, 2008 | The Diocese of Venice welcomes Quasi-Parish of the Ave Maria Oratory. The oratory celebrated its dedication and inaugural Mass March 31.
The dedication of the 104-foot oratory culminates the process to welcome the quasi-parish, equivalent to a parish, which will provide pastoral care for the students, faculty and staff of Ave Maria University and the residents of Ave Maria town.
MARCH 21, 2008 | On Easter Sunday, the Church proclaims a message of great joy. Jesus Christ, who suffered, died, and was buried, is risen from the dead!
Although we may not have been in Jerusalem on that joyous first Easter, generations of Christians have passed down the hope and faith that Easter signifies. It is the hope of salvation and faith in Christ our Savior. His Resurrection gives us the promise of new life, both in this world and the next.
FEBRUARY 29, 2008 | My prayers are with each of you during this Lenten season, a journey in which we are to unite ourselves spiritually with Jesus Christ and his passion, death and resurrection. Lent is a season of interior spiritual reflection and growth.
