Addressing the congregation, Archbishop Hurley congratulated the Catholics of Apopka on arriving at this important landmark in the history of the young parish. The new church constructed mostly of wood was begun soon after the ceremonial groundbreaking last October. Father William Trainor of Eustis was then acting as priest in charge until the appointment of Father Moran in January of this year. Mass has been celebrated regularly since 1962 in Apopka at Apopka Memorial High School and later at the Veteran’s Memorial Home. The parish now serves approximately 200 Catholic families.

Among the clergy attending Sunday’s dedication ceremony were Msgr. Charles A. Bartok, Father Trainor, Father Daniel J. Logan, Father John J. Bluett and Father Daniel J. Butler.
