Courtesy Photo PENSACOLA | Seventeen men will promise to serve God’s people and the Church as they are ordained to the diaconate Saturday, June 20, at St. Paul Catholic Church. Five years of preparation led to their ordination. The men are to be ordained as permanent deacons, meaning that they will receive this level of holy orders and not typically continue on to ordination to the priesthood. The Mass of ordination begins at 10 a.m. The men to be ordained are: • Patrick Dallet, 61, Blessed Sacrament Parish, Tallahassee. He and his wife, Jane, have been married for 40 years and are the parents of seven grown children. Deputy director of the Postsecondary Education Planning Commission for the state of Florida, Dallet holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees, along with a doctorate in education. He has served as an extraordinary minister of holy Communion, a lector, on parish council, as an usher, in eucharistic adoration, with the Knights of Columbus, Christ Renews His Parish presenting team, Men’s Club and Sharing the Vision team, and visiting the sick. • Roger Gallagher, 60, St. Dominic Parish, Panama City. He and his wife, Linda, have been married for 34 years and are the parents of two grown children. Employed as a nurse anesthetist, he holds bachelor’s degrees in chemistry, nursing and anesthesia. Gallagher spent 20 years in the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Navy, retiring with the rank of commander. He is active in his parish as a lector, extraordinary minister of holy Communion and religious education catechist. He and his wife serve in marriage preparation ministry as a Facilitating Open Couple Communication, Understanding and Study, or FOCCUS, couple and with the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. • Thomas Gordon, 62, St. Anne Parish, Bellview. He and his wife, Lori, are parents of three grown children and have been married for 36 years. He holds a bachelor’s degree in education and retired as a captain after a 28-year career in the U.S. Army and U.S. Coast Guard. He serves as a presenter for RCIA, an extraordinary minister of holy Communion and lector, in sacramental preparation, and as visitor to the sick and shut-ins. • Dr. David Harris, 59, St. Margaret of Scotland, DeFuniak Springs. He and his wife, Carolyn, have been married 34 years and are the parents of two grown children. Harris is employed at the Anti-Aging Clinic of Destin. At the end of his seven years of military service, he had attained the rank of lieutenant commander. He participates in prison ministry, RCIA and parish pro-life activities. • Gerald Haynes, 59, Good Shepherd Parish, Tallahassee. He and his wife, Margaret, have been married for three years. Together, they are the parents of seven children, with two still living at home. Holding a Master of Business Administration degree and certified public accountant license, Haynes works for the Florida Division of Retirement, Administrative Service. Activities have included Knights of Columbus, pro-life, Engaged Encounter, Christ Renews His Parish team leader, Communion to homebound, extraordinary minister of holy Communion, Joyful Again leader, confirmation catechist, Boy Scouts and adult leader for the Knights of Columbus Squires. • Donald Krehely, 70, St. Anne, Bellview. He and his wife, Martha, have been married for 45 years and are the parents of three grown children. Following a 33-year career in the U.S. Navy from which he retired with the rank of captain, he was employed as a training analyst with Anteon Corp. He is a member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem. His ministry activities have included lector, Knights of Columbus, catechist, usher, parish council, volunteer maintenance crew, Renew International’s parish-based program, extraordinary minister of holy Communion, Catholic Charities board of directors, FOCCUS facilitator, visitor to sick and shut-ins and the Diocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting. • Lloyd Krueger, 71, Holy Spirit Parish, Pensacola. He and his wife, Amalia (Nanette), have been married 49 years and are the parents of three grown children. Krueger retired from the U.S. Navy after serving for 31 years and attaining the rank of lieutenant commander. He was employed at CACi Inc., as a consultant. His ministry activities have included usher, liturgical minister coordinator, extraordinary minister of holy Communion, lector, visiting the homebound and shut-ins, catechist, altar server trainer and bereavement committee. • Charles Lee, 41, St. Paul Parish, Pensacola. He and his wife, Heidi, are parents of two children and have been married for 11 years. Lee holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in addition to a Master of Business Administration. He is employed by Studer/Covenant Alliance. His ministry involvement has included lector, RCIA, catechist, Bible study instructor, adult education instructor, extraordinary minister of holy Communion, ministry to shut-ins, and tribunal advocate for people in RCIA. • Jeffrey Massey, 45, St. Rose of Lima Parish, Milton. He and his wife, Danielle, have been married 21 years and are parents of three children, two of whom are grown. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees, and is employed by Pensacola Junior College. His ministry involvement has included lector, Knights of Columbus, choir, RCIA, and mMnistry to Widowed, Divorced and Separated. • Thomas McBrearty, 62, Good Shepherd Parish, Tallahassee. He and his wife, Jo Anne, have been married 39 years and are the parents of three grown children and one child at home. He is employed as a senior customer service engineer for Xerox Corp. He served in the U.S. Air Force and attained the rank of staff sergeant. His ministry involvement has included Project Gabriel, Divine Mercy devotions, Christ Renews His Parish, Life in the Spirit, Crown Ministries, parish liaison for alcohol and drug abuse, parish stewardship committee and lector. • Kenneth McClure, 52, St. Thomas More, Pensacola. He and his wife, Karen, have been married for 32 years and are the parents of one child. He is employed by Raytheon Corp. as an instructional designer. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years. His ministry involvement has included lector, usher, Knights of Columbus, parish men’s club, choir, extraordinary minister of holy Communion, visiting shut-ins, youth program, training of extraordinary ministers of holy Communion, lectors and altar servers. • Michael Nixon, 56, Blessed Sacrament Parish, Tallahassee. He and his wife, Jean, have been married 19 years and are parents of six children, with two still at home. He is a certified acupuncturist, employed by the Acupuncture Pain Relief Center in Tallahassee. His ministry involvement has included usher, Knights of Columbus, catechist, pro-life, perpetual adoration, extraordinary minister of holy Communion, shut-in ministry and prison ministry. • Miguel Nolla, 49, Christ Our Redeemer Parish, Niceville. He and his wife, Lynn, have been married for 26 years and are the parents of two children. Having earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees, he retired from the military after serving 20 years and attaining the rank of major. He is employed by Northrop Grumman. His ministry involvement has included catechist, extraordinary minister of holy Communion and shut-in ministry, parish building committee and youth ministry team member. • Mark Schneider, 56, Good Shepherd Parish, Tallahassee. He and his wife, Lee Anne, have been married 26 years and are the parents of one child. Holding a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, Schneider works as the pharmacy district manager for Wal-Mart. His ministry involvement has included Cursillo, Renew International’s parish-based program, Christ Renews His Parish, RCIA extraordinary minister of holy Communion and hospital visiting and baptism preparation. • John Scott, 62, St. Ann, Gulf Breeze. Married 40 years, he and his wife, Mary, have three grown children. He retired after a 35-year career in the U.S. Army with the rank of major general. His ministry involvement has included lector, extraordinary minister of holy Communion, usher, Social Justice Committee, adult Bible study, shut-in ministry, building committees and outreach to the poor. • Ong-In (John) Shin, 60, Holy Name of Jesus Parish, Niceville. He and his wife, Young-Ran (Lucia), are parents of three grown children. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil and ocean engineering, and is employed by Florida Coastal Development Consulting Inc. as a professional engineer. His ministry involvement has included lector, extraordinary minister of holy Communion, Cursillo, RCIA and prison ministry. • Dr. George Walters, 52, St. John the Evangelist Parish, Panama City. He and his wife, Melanie, have been married 19 years and are parents of three children. Both he and his wife are oral and maxillofacial surgeons. His ministry involvement has included lector, parish council, St. John School Board, extraordinary minister of holy Communion, children’s liturgy, respect life and ministry to the sick.
