Pro–life activities for Respect Life Month 2009

Rosary prayer service: Thursday, Oct. 1, 7 p.m., St. Helen Parish, 2000 20th St., Vero Beach. All are invited to join Father Michael Edwards, pastor, and ministry representatives of the parish to pray for the end of abortion. 772-567-5129.

Respect life and Knights of Columbus pro-life representatives meeting: Saturday, Oct. 3, 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m., Holy Family Parish, Community Room, 2330 S.E. Mariposa Ave., Port St Lucie. Joseph Mauceri, a medical doctor, will discuss end-of-life issues. Other speakers include Don Kazimir, coordinator of the Diocese of Palm Beach Respect Life Office; and Anne Lotierzo, executive director of Pregnancy Care Center. Diocesan life chains: Oct. 4, Respect Life Sunday, 2-3 p.m. Faithful are invited to gather at one of the following locations to show support for the pro-life movement and to join others in prayer for the dignity of life:

• Palm Beach Gardens – near Cathedral of St. Ignatius Loyola, 9999 N. Military Trial and Holly Drive.

• Royal Palm Beach – at the intersection of Okeechobee and Royal Palm Beach boulevards.

• West Palm Beach – St. Juliana Parish, 4500 S. Dixie Highway.

• Delray Beach – at the intersection of 441 and West Atlantic Avenue near Our Lady Queen of Peace, 9600 W. Atlantic Ave., and at the intersection of Federal Highway and Linton Boulevard

• Boca Raton – at the corner of Lyons and Palmetto Park roads, near Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, 22094 Lyons Road.

• Boynton Beach – St. Thomas More, 10935 S. Military Trail.

National and local “40 Days for Life Campaign”: Now until Nov 1. All are invited to fast, offer prayers and participate in peaceful prayer. FACE Life, a pro-life organization in West Palm Beach whose acronym stands for Faith, Action, Counseling and Education for Life, is organizing prayer gatherings at the Presidential Women’s Center, 100 Northpoint Parkway, West Palm Beach. Faithful are asked to make a weekly commitment to pray near the sidewalk across the street from the center that offers abortion services. According to organizers, Bishop Gerald M. Barbarito plans to lead prayer Monday, Oct. 5, at noon. Priests of the diocese of Palm Beach will be on hand.

Walk for the unborn: Saturday, Oct. 10, 8:30 a.m. Mass, followed by walkathon from 9 a.m. to noon, Emmanuel Parish, 15700 Military Trail, Delray Beach. Donations raised will benefit Birthline/Lifeline, a Catholic Charities-supported mission reaching out to pregnant women and dedicated to protecting the unborn and saving babies. All are encouraged to participate to raise funds for Birthline/Lifeline and to bring awareness of the organization’s services and the pro-life mission. The gathering also invites nonwalkers and encourages prayer. All are reminded to bring rosary beads. Bishop Gerald M. Barbarito will be on hand at 9 a.m. Chairs are available. Benefit for Pregnancy Care Center: Saturday, Oct. 24, 5 p.m., St. Lucie Parish, 280 S.W. Prima Vista Blvd., Port St. Lucie. Wine and cheese, silent auction followed by dinner. Guest speaker: Father Thomas Euteneuer, priest of the Diocese of Palm Beach and Human Life International president. Adults only. Admission complimentary. Donations encouraged for support of the nonprofit Pregnancy Care Center’s facilities in Stuart and Fort Pierce, and organization’s mission of helping mothers, protecting the unborn and saving babies.
