Top Catholic ScoutsThe Spirit Alive Award 
Brynn Carlson, 18 Parish: St. Joseph, Stuart Education: 2008 graduate, John Carroll High School Noteworthy: Proposed a pastoral council at St. Joseph Parish, opening up an additional line of communication between pastor and parishioners. Worked on building school in the Bahamas. A Girl Scout since kindergarten, starting as a Daisy, all the way to Senior. Plans: Will attend Denison University in Grandville, Ohio, to major in public relations and communications. 
Maria Fernandez, 18 Parish: St. Francis of Assisi, Riviera Beach Education: 2008 graduate, Suncoast High School Noteworthy: Sings in St. Francis of Assisi choir. Worked with youth group at St. John Fisher in West Palm Beach. Helps kids with reading program. A Girl Scout for 15 years, since starting as a Daisy. Plans: Will attend Palm Beach Community College with plans to go to Florida International University in Miami to study biological sciences and fashion merchandising. 
Jacquelyn-My Do, 18 Parish: Our Lady Queen of the Apostles, Royal Palm Beach Education: 2008 graduate, Suncoast High School Noteworthy: Established a mentoring and tutoring program for kids at a local church. Served as lector and altar server at church and on leadership committee for confirmation. Has been a Girl Scout since fourth grade, beginning in Junior program. Plans: Will attend Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Mass., in the fall, planning to major in biology. 
Christina Pengelley, 18 Parish: Our Lady Queen of the Apostles, Royal Palm Beach Education: 2008 graduate, Suncoast High School Noteworthy: Collected school supplies from area students and delivered to kids at a school and orphanage in Jamaica and spent a week with the kids. Teaches CCD for third and fourth grade. Started with Girl Scouts as a Brownie at 5. Plans: Will attend Palm Beach Community College, taking prerequisite classes. Working as lifeguard to save for future. Pope Pius XII Award 
William O’Leary, 17 Parish: St. Sebastian, Sebastian Education: Will begin 2008-09 as senior at Indian River Charter School. Noteworthy: Served as counselor at Bible camp. Gave guitar lessons. Has been a Boy Scout since starting as a Tiger Cub 10 years ago. Plans: After high school graduation, plans to attend college to study music.
