Faith Stories

You’ve gotta love it when it seems like the Holy Spirit is leading you through your workweek, making the job easier and the product better.
My turn to lead morning prayer for the Florida Catholic state office staff came up again yesterday and today and, as regular readers of Living Faith may know, that means I [...]

Why is St. Lawrence a patron of seminarians?

by Denise O'Toole Kelly on August 15, 2009

in Faith Stories, Vocations, saints

We didn’t plan it this way, but our spotlight on seminarians in this post and its companion in our Florida Catholic print editions, the Living Our Faith page, happen to fall very close to the Aug. 10 feast of St. Lawrence, a patron of seminarians.
Our coverage focuses on what men who are preparing for the [...]

Catholic reality TV: Would you invite the camera in?

by Denise O'Toole Kelly on August 3, 2009

in Faith Stories, Media

New moderator notes blessed coincidence

by Denise O'Toole Kelly on July 1, 2009

in Faith Stories, Prayer

As I sit here agonizing over how to introduce myself as the new and somewhat reluctant moderator of the Living Faith blog, I think of a blessed coincidence from earlier today.
We at the Florida Catholic, where I am managing editor, pray as a staff each morning, and this was my turn to lead. As I [...]

How fathers are important…

by Lynn Ramsey on June 20, 2009

in Action, Faith Stories, People of Faith

Jesus was blessed to have two fathers - God, his father; and St. Joseph, his earthly father. St. Joseph showed us how to live as a father. If Jesus needed an earthly father, then today’s children do too.
I was blessed to have a father at home through my formative years. Some of my younger brothers [...]

In 13 years as a sportswriter and sports copy-desker, I’ve covered many a national signing day, during which high-school athletes sign national letters of intent to make official their college choices. They are normally big ceremonies that draw big crowds. Some even get airtime on ESPN.
What if we made as big a deal about high-school [...]
